Farming carrots

When I try to farm carrots i only get one, how do i get more?

leave it a bit longer before harvesting them, they have 2 stages after where you're harvesting them, one which gives seeds and another that gives 2/3 carrots

Have Plant Lore and Gardening and harvest them at later stages rather than the second that they're available to be harvested. Carrots have multiple stages where they can be harvested from. The first one yields only a single carrot, when they have white stuff on the leaves they yield a carrot and seeds, and the last stage yields multiple carrots.

Was this changed back? I thought it had been changed so you only get seeds. I've been putting off farming again the last couple of weeks to make sure my new location was safer than my last.
