Should we get V-Claim?

Hey there

So, I was wondering if I could get a nice reply from more experienced/veteran players...

I live in a settlement, medium-sized, it's completely claimed by me (P-Claim). I play with 2 more people (so 3 in total) and I'm not sure if we'd ever accept more unless we really, really trust them. So let's stick to 3 for now.

The question is: Should we get a Village Claim? We have all the requirements/materials, but we lack the reason.
I don't know how much has changed since Legacy, how villages work right now, etc...

Anyway: would it be hard to keep it? What would be the advantages/disadvantages? (Chat doesn't count as advantage since we usually play in the same room or with skype or something)
