It's all new and shiny, looks and feels great but eh....I've been running for hours and I have yet to see ANY stone... what's up with that?

Its all already dug out, i have suggested that they add forageable stones so new players can get stoneaxes. (To cut all trees from starter areas ¦] )

Central grid is a wasteland, you'll have to escape that to find surface boulders. If you trust custom clients, the Amber client and maybe others have minimap customizations that show surface boulders on the minimap. They'll just show up as blue squares but it makes them a lot easier to find.

I eventually found some red stone, but man I was walking for a long....LONG time. And it was the only one I saw. Guess I gotta keep on going if I wanna build anything of note

I had that problem too, walked for 1,5 hour from my base to get some stones, and then found out there were boulders 20 minutes in the opposite direction...

Anyway, you can always enter a cave and try out walls, some of them are really soft and contain stone nodes.

Will look to it so, while I have ya, what are the Go to clients that people use? Enders was the big one in Salem and H&H 1.0

This does imply that a person already has a stone axe. Without one, this doesn't help, unfortunately.
