Let's talk about fishing.

So I didn't play Salem, but from what I've read on here the advance fishing system is similar to fishing in that game. Thing is... I still don't really understand it. So when I fish I just click random things without really knowing what each click is doing, or if I should keep repeating the clicks that do the "good" things.

So wat is goin on here

Each type of fish will have a different response to the different answers. So the idea is that if you start recording the responses you get, over time you will get to know the various fish and how to catch them effectively.

Do you have to enter the moves in a particular pattern though? And it isn't really clear which moves are positive and which are negative (apart from seeing the change in rod angle if that happens).

I don't know, haven't done it yet :) I've been reading the posts, and also tried it in Salem a little bit.

I've been waiting all this time for someone to figure it out and update wiki

which admittedly has some nice detailed info on it about fishing in general but nothing about fishing with a primitive casting rod, I mean the page hasnt even been added yet

get on it ppl

The wiki is a wreck, the legacy pages haven't even been tagged/moved yet.

*shrugs* Give it a year.

I'll repost some info I shared a while ago

mamotromico wrote:Each fish is a flowchart/maze where some message/answer combination will increase a invisible "catch" bar. When you fill it, yo get a fish. Some of the combinations drain from the bar, and you can fail it.

But yeah, I'm in the process of mapping them.

mamotromico wrote:There are 3 animation stages that references how filled/empty the bar is. If you hit a message/answer combination that causes a change on animation, then you know that combination raises/decreases the bar. Do that enough times and you can get a lot of information on a map.

This matches my limited understanding of the process so far. I think what baffles me is how anyone can attempt to map a chart given the fact that things move so quickly.
