Wax time?

How long does it take the Bee hive to make one piece of wax?
Total misplay.

Don't have an exact estimate, but one tip is to spread out your beehives. If you bunch them up you'll get significantly less wax. With decent spread I can get about 1 a day per beehive while they're around flax. A faster growing crop would probably produce more.

First, know how beehives work. A bee hive (skep) gains pollination charges at 6/hr, with a 50 hour store max when it is built. Previous world testing showed the hive had to pollinate X number of crops in a period of time to generate wax and honey. So far the same mechanic seems to be in play, but at smaller numbers than previously used.

Next, plan your fields appropriately for which crops hives will and won't pollinate and around the mechanics. I don't have a complete list, but barley and pumpkins are two the hives don't pollinate.

does wax quality depend entirely on the crops or does skep quality matter too?

Bee skep quality does not matter. Jorb mentioned it somewhere but i'm too lazy to search for it.
