How often do mulberry leaves regenerate?

I have a bunch of mulberry trees around my camp, but I keep having to go farther and farther to get leaves cus the closest trees seem to take forever to restores them. I took leaves from the closest tree like a month ago and then one week after that and it never had leaves until now (3 weeks later).

Is it completely random?

It's not completely random. If I recall correctly there's something about trees/bushes regenerating their fruits/leaves/other materials in proportion to how often they're seen by hearthlings. So if you have a mulberry tree directly at your site (i.e. you walk by it multiple times every day), it will regenerate its leaves rather quickly. I have a tree on my site that I get leaves from every day. However, if it's close but still off-site and you aren't seeing it all the time, then it will regenerate much more slowly. The easiest way to get around this is to plant a mulberry tree on your property.

Trees and shrubs regenerate at random based on the decay process. There's no way of knowing how long this may take. Mulberries used to take a good 3-4 weeks on average.

Your best bet is going to be growing your own mulberry trees. You'll want to do this for quality, anyway, but growing trees get new leaves much faster. My understanding is that every time they grow a little, they get a few more leaves. When you get more mulberries to plant, you can cut down the oldest, lowest quality trees and plant new ones again.

So there's some confusion here:

Leaves are grown as the tree ages until maturity. It should, as far as I understand, generate the full wild amount in that time (250 leaves). You can harvest them bit by bit, or let them grow completely it doesn't matter.

After it's finished growing (or stunted) it needs a decay tick to regen products. These are *very* infrequent, and you might expect one harvest per 2-4 weeks IRL on average.

I see. So if I have a small orchard I suppose it is more efficient to just plant new trees whenever they are out of leaves. But in a larger orchard I should just leave the trees up for the resource regen (until the point I want a better q tree), since it is unlikely to be able to use all the leaves before some of them regen.
