Calf quality

Postby Alhu » Fri Oct 16, 2015 9:34 pm

Hi guys,

I just had a new calf. Very simple question : Can I expect better quality as it grows? I'm a bit disappointed with the numbers I see.

Thanks!

Nope, that's its qualities for life. It can go down if you starve it.

Try again, pray to RNGesus

Is calf quality based soley on the breeding quality, or off the other 3 quality numbers too?

If it works like legacy, it's a random number based off the other values, and then soft capped by breeding quality. I think it used to be -5/+20, so if you had a fresh tamed animal at V10, +20 would translate into 30 softcapped by 10 breeding quality, or 20.

I'm not sure about the exact random values, but I'm fairly certain the same general system remains.

Is breeding quality affected by the same scale of -5/+20? Would it make sense to attempt to raise the base 3 qualities first, or breeding quality first, or all 4 at once?

Depends what you're breeding for. For a milk cow you'll want to breed S/V, milk quality %, breeding. You might want to keep an eye on milk quantity as well, but it usually gets high enough that it's not a huge deal (you'll need a lot of breeders to get good quality gain anyway).
