Do cupboards in caves ever decay? If they do not is this intentional

There are no more caves just mines and they always stayed alive in there. I hope it's intentional and if it's not we need a different thematic container only bigger.

Mistype? Caves and mines (Minehole) exist in the game, and are separate things.

They lead to the same terrain type. Cupboards are not placed in the entrances but on the terrain type and that's the same.

What does that have to do with anything though?

Things don't decay underground because decay ticks don't take place underground - it doesn't matter what kind of tile you put it on down there.

You have cave entrances, and you have mine holes. Whatever you want to call it, they both lead to the same place and they have exactly one biome tile--"underground." It's why bats and shit spawn near your mine holes.

Which is a bug. Stuff should decay in caves too.

Never considered it a bug myself - things tend to last a long time in caves. Dead Sea Scrolls were down in a cave for what, over 2,000 years?

The newest scrolls were made just before the Roman sack of Jerusalem around 70 AD. The oldest in the cache were a good bit older than that. A few hundred years? I forget without looking it back up.

Yeah, caves may breath with the change of the air pressure, but deeper in and the changes in the atmosphere are very slow. Objects stored in them last a long time, no matter what it is. Of course, the type of cave can make a difference, too, as some of those chambers are highly acidic surfaces, others high in lime, etc etc.
