Newbie Questions - HELP, THX!

Postby VertixenTV » Fri Oct 23, 2015 5:07 pm

Hello there everyone,

I am totally new to this game and I am exploring it on my own which I like and when I am trying to figure out things and I am right it makes me happy... But I totally can't understand/figure out these things:

My survival is 17 and exploration is 12 and for example when I catch rabbit they are like QL: 10/10/10 mostly but sometimes I am lucky to get QL like : 10/15/15 for example... Same goes with the hides... What skills/attributes make the hide/leather QL best as possible? Same problem with branches, I remember when I was "born" I used to collect QL 1 branch, and now max is 10 QL branch I can get from a free, but my skills are higher than that... Exactly same thing with the things I find on map: dandelions, nuttles, traproots usually QL 10:10:10 but sometimes I manage to find 16:16:10 or anything biger than 10:10:10... o.0?

Also very important, how do I get wool? I've read some googled tutorials but they are not working on this version... I guess they are from the old one

Thanks everyone for your time and heling, I am thankfully~

Survival and tool quality are responsible for butchering quality. However they are merely a soft cap.

Animals will have differing qualities depending on where they spawn. There are hidden quality nodes all over the map, for each kind of animal a different one. So in one area you might find q 10/10/10 rabbits (which is their base quality) and in another area you might find much better ones.

Wool as a newbie you get by picking a clover (needs some per*explo) and right clicking it on a wild ram. Then it will allow you to shear 1 piece of wool from the sheep. Later on you can tame your own sheep and get a recurring supply of wool from them.

Mised the tree part. Trees are always base q10. You can only improve them by raising your own trees. You will need seeds, a herbalists table (requires fibres from flax or hemp), a treeplanters pot made from clay, soil and water to produce them.

The tree raising chain is one of the most central elements to improving quality in the long run.

@burgingham

Thanks for the answers... I am kinda confused about you saying that animals QL depending on where they've spawned... Because once or twice I had story like this: I was exploring the world and I caught rabbit with 10/10/10 and next to him I had another dead rabbit, just killed by a fox and the QL were so damn good, it was 10:10/49... I am even holding the hide from that rabbit till now cuz I think I was kinda lucky getting such QL that early :)

One of the rabbits probably came from another territory, someone might have chased it or it just randomly walked for a long time. Also, nodes aren't that large, there is often much difference in qualities of animals spawned just a minimap away from each other.

Quality of the products you can get from an animal is capped by your survival, and by the quality of the tool you're using for butchering(bones are only capped by your survival).

This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.”

small animals like rabbits, bats, ... are hardcapped by your survival. the fox has a higher survival rating than you, so it doesn't cap the rabbit quality.:)
