Is there a way to tell how much STR I need to mine a wall?
Supposing the tool Q doesn't change (q10) and the message it gives is "Very much too hard", how many additional STR points I'd need, approx.? Is it possible to know?
Thanks in advance

I know it is
but knowing my STR (38) and my tool quality (10) and the message being "very much too hard" and not just "too hard" or "you can't even scratch", there must be a window/range, no? Not asking for precise numbers, but as far as I know there's a formula that gives me my 'mining power' based on my STR and tool Q, and I just wanted to know approximately how much 'mining power' I'm lacking to get this message. Though relative, knowing all the info would allow someone who knows the different messages' meaning in numbers (like slightly too hard means you need like 5 more mining power, for example (I don't know) ) and the mining power formula to answer meThing is, I don't know these and couldn't find current info on the wiki

"Messages that occur while mining (each message means 10-15 more Mining ability to mine):
You don't even manage to scratch that rock.
That rock is very much too hard for you to mine.
That rock is much too hard for you to mine.
That rock is slightly too hard for you to mine.
That rock is just slightly too hard for you to mine."
Mining ability was your str*tool quality.
For current world i would say it's more like 20-25 'mining ability' per message.
Just try to find another ore spot with rustroot or just with random cave digging. 60-100 str should let you mine most of the level 1 stuff although there are some places that I can't touch with 200+ str and q18 pick on lvl 1.(very rare though).
For easiest way of finding ore I would suggest getting a mapping tool that gives you the view of above the ground and cave tiles too.(usually it's manually set up to see cave overlay like this tool viewtopic.php?f=49&t=41026). Then you can just use the rustroot exctract to find the ore node and easily see where to you have to mine. (caves being overlayed with above ground map)
PS. The tool i linked is the one i was using for a long time although with latest updates it somehow got slower and slower for me. So it might be good idea to find some other mapping program. Just linked the one I used and which did its job nicely. If I recall right there are 3 or 4 mapping programs in the 'The Wizards' Tower' subforums.
Low str mining without a pickaxe might be a pain but we all kinda did that at start! When you find the ore you'll just have to smelt few bars for anvil, hammer and pickaxe. Then the metal shall come to you, much easier
