What's the function of tar and tar accessories?

You can make tarsticks which can be using as a thatching or for burning.

A torch is useful as you can light it and then use it to light other fires without having to make firebrands. Conserve fuel on it by putting it in inventory (extinguishes it). The torch can be refueled by picking it up with left click and right clicking over a container of tar.
