This, unfortunately, is a thing now. You only inherit your ancestor's hearthfire and claims.

Sorry to be cruel, but I have an advice for you: Don't die.
But seriously, make at least two characters. One crafter, that you don't walk out of your base, and one explorer/hunter. Might do more of these as they are risking their lives. I personally like the change, as these more advanced factions won't risk their titans quite as eagerly.
