Is it ok mining in the cave that claimed by others?

Postby 100921128 » Mon Nov 02, 2015 1:33 pm

I am new here and I think it's time to do some mining. However I have walked about three hours and all the caves I found have a state of claim outside. Is it a great offence to walk in these caves by tog on criminal actions?

Could be asking for trouble. Keep walking. You'll find 1 million unclaimed caves

If you want to be ballsy, go in and mine anyway.

If it's claimed but still open, why not.

You will leave trespassing scents that can be tracked. If the claim's only outside of the cave, you'll leave scents only by walking in and out (or in if you hearth home), but not by mining inside. But be aware that if the cave is claimed, someone is mining there, and he/she may not be happy that you're doing it too.
If you haven't settled yet, it's no use mining anyway. If you have settled, you will either have to move somewhere else (there is a lot of unclaimed caves, believe me), or build a minehole (which is quite costly) to not leave scents when you go mining. Or you could wage a war to whoever owns the claim by building a ram and destroying it, but it kinda defeats the purpose of not leaving trespassing scents.

Also keep in mind that mineholes work both ways.

Would generally be considered a legitimate casus belli and you may very well be murdered for it. Having claimed off all the entrances, I would certainly attack anybody I caught inside my cave.

If you can find one with a few entrances usually most players won't take the effort to claim all of them and they sort of become a free for all. I assume anyone with LP to spare to claim a mine entrance outside their main camp to be someone who can kick my ass.

What you could do is find the owner and negotiate with them. If someone offered to mine my current cave in exchange for some choice items I'd take it. Hell, I'd let them mine for halfsies on the ore they find as its so damn labor intensive to mine it in the first place. I am friends with my neighbors though so its also a trust thing.
