String problem...

Postby Teister » Mon Nov 09, 2015 4:24 pm

I was almost 3 days looking for string. Somebody can give me a tip of where to find it?

Get more perc*exp or plant crops. like hemp flax. But if you cant see string you probably dont have crops either

It's also worth noting that "string" isn't an object, it's a bunch of objects that count as string. Spindly taproot and nettles count as string that can be foraged.

I really feel like the hover-over information should include what "keywords" the object belongs to (string, rock, meat..). There is no way to intuit that the taproot is a string.

If only there wasn't some sort of manual somewhere that gave this sort of information....

But seriously, though, there might be some sort of further hint in the game. Recipes open up when you discover a string item, but then if you got it off of stinging nettle, you'd might not realize a taproot counted, too. However, when trying to craft something with "any string" it will highlight any qualifying item: nettles, taproots, hide straps, etc. There is definitely information in the game for figuring this out. There could be more, I agree, but part of the premise is figuring things out on your own if you wish to do so. If you want the easy way, definitely use the wiki.

indeed. but if you play normally, you generally find taproots first - unless your friend gives you per food to jump your stats, or you hadnt bought foraging for a while for some reason. and when you find a taproot (or any new item discovered), your menu starts blinking green to tell you there are updates of items you can craft/build (i like this current feature a lot better than previous red text messages). so i think it currently gives you certain hints if you pay enough attention.

True, and I probably should have worded that the other way, though if you're in a big grassland, you might get enough PER and exploration you see them both. (Spot I spawned in first was like this, took me about almost an hour to find my first string in woods.)
