Water quality effect when drinking

Postby bdew » Fri Nov 20, 2015 2:35 am

Experimented a bit with different water qualities when drinking. Values are per sip (0.05 liter)

Water 10/10/10 Stamina: +10 Energy: -20
Water 10/37/30 Stamina: +10 Energy: -16
Water 10/12/29 Stamina: +10 Energy: -17/18 (saw both numbers over multiple ticks)
Water 57/38/10 Stamina: +10 Energy: -15

Hot tea 52/43/50 Stamina: +10 Energy: -5
Hot tea 52/46/50 Stamina: +10 Energy: -4/-5
Hot tea 58/46/48 Stamina: +10 Energy: -4/-5

Cold tea 52/43/50 Stamina: +10 Energy: -14/-15
Cold tea 52/46/50 Stamina: +10 Energy: -14/-15
Cold tea 58/46/48 Stamina: +10 Energy: -14/-15

So it looks to me that either substance or overall quality affects energy drain when drinking, and nothing changes the stamina gained.

Anyone got any other observations or guesses on the formula?

Wow, when I was testing things, I only found essence to have an effect. I guess I was wrong. Looks like it's the average maybe?

Either that or substance. Not enough data points to really be sure i think.

Also want to test tea once the stupid teapots finish cooking :P

Yeah looks like this is true.

Added some data for tea and 10/10/10 water to the op.

Looks like cold tea is uselsess, even if you can get it at higher ql than the water.

Tea is useless if there's no way to keep it hot/reheat it. And for people like me (el clicko el nono), preparing tea is so unbelievably fiddly that it's not worth it.

If we want to see tea used, it needs to be made so that preparing it is easy, since it already comes at the cost of needing to plant/harvest tea ontop of water.

Stick cold tea into the fire to reheat it? I know people that stick cold tea in the microwave all the time.

I think we need a bucket sized (2x2, 10L) metal teakettle that can be hung from a spitroast to reheat the tea inside. I think I could see myself bothering to use that with that type of convenience offered (especially if tea could be crafted into it (although the crafting volume per action doesn't have to change imo).

Cold tea is not useless. If you drink from a mug you still get the +20 stamina, which is still twice as efficient as water.

I make buckets of tea at a time for use later.
I also posted an idea for iced tea in C&I.

What IS funny is my character can drink 10L of tea and not need to go to the bathroom.........
