Dropping Items on Cellar Door

Dropped my favorite stone axe while standing on top of my cellar door.
It disappeared :(
I am guessing it is under the cellar door.
Can I turn of rendering of the cellar door or something to get it back?

Make another stone axe, drop it (not on the cellar door) and then pick it up while holding shift (integrated taker).
This should pickup both axes.
