Foxes

Basically, how do I fight foxes? There's two of us, me with 20 in melee combat and unarmed skills and a shield, and my friend with 20 in marksmanship. I have shield up and haymaker. Should I get cleave? What type of attacks/defences do foxes use?

From what I've read, with foxes you need to have high agility. They aren't very strong, but they are very fast.

Attacks: green + blue combined regular attack, yellow ip attack.

Make sure you definitely have a yellow def up at all times once it gets 3+ ip as that one really hurts. You can just refresh shield up, quick dodge & jump as needed to tank the fox, and get your friend to one shot it with a bow if you like.

If you want to solo it up close, I'd suggest using a shield up, take aim, chop, punch & haymaker deck, with a wrought sword do ~30 damage and then chop when it has no yellow/green defs left or with a steel sword do a chop as soon as you've broken its defs. Obviously this requires more stats than tanking as you have to maintain your defenses whilst breaking through its defenses. If you don't one shot it with chop it will run away at sprint speed, so you can't just grind it down.

10/10/10 bow, 10/10/10 arrow and 10 marksmanship? Instant kill. Limitless hide leather and meat for life. :D
Total misplay.

dont actually fight the fox. follow it until it finds a badger. they will fight and the fox will die
Why should you avoid players near salt sources? Because they're SALTY.

Majority of the time ... occasionally the fox will win.

Incidentally, I have also witnessed two foxes fighting a badger which I'd never seen before, Ven and I came to the conclusion it was Jorb and Loftar practising combat techniques. :)
