The qualities are decided when planting, they don't change when the plant grows.

Like grapes, peppercorns are more like a tree or bush than a normal crop. If you want to raise quality you'll need to replant.

wish they were a bush, then I'd be willing to deal with them. Trellises are the worst.

Set up your farm better so that you can work back and forth in a zig-zag. You can fit two trellises to a tile to save space. I've not had much issue myself, but you're not the only complaint I've seen on it. (The slow start-up time on a new crop is what annoys me the most, as quality increases are so important.)

ehh, I hate that too much, personally I have mine lined up along the wall of my farm, and I'm planning on making an animal pen with them, because having them in long straight rows makes it ever so slightly less miserable for me

Yeah, having them in a single line is what is making it so stressful for you. if you alternate left and right as you set them up for harvest, you can click L, R, L, R, etc. Compare to harvest trellis, move over, harvest trellis, move over.... Saves about half the clicks. Note it may take a bit of positioning for the trellis for you to move properly. (Should be able to group harvest like other crops, but we can't have nice things.)

Actually the character harvests a single line of trellis just fine without the need for too many clicks, he or she will move along the row just fine, although the lack of the builtin autoharvest for trellises still means it is clickier than it should be. I think some clients have an "automatically select harvest" option that means you just need to rightclick and not press 1.

Also in case you didnt know, you can strip the plants from a trellis by using Destroy on the plant itself - its hard to click accurately (for me) so zooming in helps.

TBH because of the growtime I haven't been worrying *too* much about pepper q, since the cauldron and tables raise it quite a bit. I have one row of trellis set aside for q improvement on them, the rest are just for production.

I've seen a couple of videos and such where people are definitely having issues moving down the line of trellises. It's probably from cramming them too close together, but which is the real issue?
