Animal quality range

Postby lachlaan » Fri Dec 04, 2015 4:03 pm

Just out of curiosity, Jorb/Loftar, how do animal quality fields work? I figure it's easier for them to be defined as a float ranging between 1 and .. as far as i've counted something like 7, but what's the max? What multiple of base qualities can animals reach? :D As a wanderer/explorer this is the stuff that keeps me interested half the time.

I can answer half your question at least. When the % qualities were patched, patch note said up to 200%. No clue what the RNG varience is, but I've seen -5%.

Ah no, I meant the wild animals. My bad for not specifying. Tho it'd be also nice knowing how much domestic babies can fluctuate, as i've seen some pretty weird swings.

They fluctuate based off quality nodes. If you find a high q bear in a spot, all bears in that spot will be the same quality (or similar if near the spot). Applies for all animals: Toads, boars, foxes, rabbits, dragonflies; also applies to forageables and resources such as clay, water, and soil.

However, animals have minimum quality values, based off of type. IIRC a bear not on a quality node will be ~60/60/60, boars ~45/45/45, can't remember the rest.

May have phrased it wrong. I know this much :) was just curious if they nodes set server side as say, bear nodes varying between 60 and somewhere in the hundreds or if it's defined as a multiplier of the base values for each species. I've fought most things to know it's bear 60, lynx 45, deer 40, cow/boar/horse? 30, badger/fox 25, bat 15 and bunny 10 base. The interesting thing to know I think is how high it can go compared to base.

I've had fox, horse, deer and boar over 100. Someone posted a screenshot of a bear over 400.
