Fighting for dummies. Where do I start?

Postby Lain » Wed Dec 09, 2015 8:45 pm

Ok, I've finally settled and built mah walls and goddamn steelgates
Now it's time to get to the fighting part which I was trying to avoid during last months.

My stats are 25 agi, 31 str, 66 con, 65 per, 60 dex

Ua25
Mc30
Mm30

I currently have q19 bow and bone arrows, q10 herdsman sword
q16 Plate mail and greaves
..the rest is crap like nettle shirt and pants

No battle skills at all.

Please suggest me some super-noob-friendly fighting guides since these green, yellow and blue skill-types are all the same for me

Fight bats until you get Chop. Add chop to your move list and work on using Punch to break the enemy's defenses, then finish with a Chop attack. Parry works wonders to both protect you and setup a counter-attack at the same time. Sting works well when the enemy still has some defense left, as it's cooldown is lower than Chop. Remember to only discover a move if the enemy has no defenses up! If you want to go on the safe side, carry a shield (Quality doesn't matter) and use Shield Up, which is a fantastic defensive skill.

After you have Chop and Parry, you can try bigger things, like Foxes, Badgers, Boars and even Auroch and Deer if you feel like it. I got all my skills from these same tactics. My equipment/stats are very similar to yours. This is what I use (no shield):

1 Quick Dodge
1 Parry
1 Punch
1 Slide
1 Jump
1 Feigned Dodge
1 Chop
1 Take Aim

My rotation is fast enough to have 90% of the time with what I want, at the time I need. Others might have a better setup, but this is what worked for me so far. The only thing I cannot hunt are Lynxes and Bears.

Sevenless' guide is stickied and explains it pretty well.
