How do I even make leather?

Well, I'm super noob in this game, and I can't tell how I am supposed to make leather if I can't dry the hides first (as it says here).
Why can't I dry the hides?, simply because I don't own a land yet (don't even know how to) and my drying frame is completely exposed. I was already robbed, and I knew it was very possible to happen...

So how do I make leather without being able to use the drying frame at all? I can't stay 8 hours online... Actually, it isn't even possible with a free account.

i suggest walking to an area where there is no one around, spending 3 to 4 hours walking is the greastest investment you can make

You should try to move far away from the spawn zone. People run rampant there and will steal and raid you constantly. The world is so big you can travel a few hours away and basically be safe from any thieves.

Otherwise study until you can acquire the 4,000 LP skill yeomanry to claim your land. Even then you might be stolen from, but claiming your land is a good protection.

You really just need to claim some land before you can reliably do things like that. You need to get the yeomanry skill, which requires The Will to Power and Farming. After that you can place a claim, and anyone without criminal skills won't be able to mess with your stuff. If you're still relatively close to where you started, another option is to just walk in any direction for a couple hours. This will take you out of the spawn zone, and drastically reduce the likelihood of anyone messing with you.

When you stop seeing random hearthfires, you're going in the right direction.

EDIT: I don't get it.. I've been wandering for like an hour already, and I still find hearth fires... and I mean a LOT of them. It seems like there's not just one starting spawn... I don't think it's worth to keep searching for a safe place....

The spawn area is somewhat big. If you're trying to find a safe spot, head in one direction for a few hours, 4-6 is pretty good, and set up camp there.
