Fishing system when using primitive casting rod?

Hi, I finally made a primitive casting rod, however I really can't understand the fishing system when using that rod. Can anyone tell me how it works?

Nobody can. Design of developers is obscure and not made for people to enjoy game. Dead game. With little to none players.
So forget fish.

Effective story:

From a time input viewpoint, playing the minigame doesn't offer enough rewards to make it a worthwhile use of time. The game has too many hidden variables to make catching fish fast, and it doesn't offer better fish than bait fishing.
