Dirt/Soil question

Postby gameboytj » Sun Feb 21, 2016 9:57 pm

Is it infinite or just super plentiful?
I asked because i dumped a pot, i wanted to plant a tree but i couldnt make the required table and i saw that the sapling was going to die if i dont place it so i dumped the whole thing and the dirt didnt even land on the ground :( I wanted to recycle the dirt not empty it into oblivion.

you cant reuse it - if you put it on a pot it stay there forever - even with a seed in it
only if you put it on a herb table will it bud - and then after maybe decay

you could just have kept it in a cb.

Theoretically the entire would could be dug down to the point where no further digging could take place due to steep slopes. This will never happen, though.

you can always still refill dirt holes with stone. you can consider it infinite.

Yeah, that would explain how i lost 1 granite rock. But... That leave an extra question though, can boulders and rocks respawn or something?
Didn't your comment have more from earlier? :?:

edit, i said it would run out if all the 5 cave layers would be mined out on top of all soil being dug out. but i believe mountain stone can be dug infinitely without the terrain lowering, so soil is also infinite.

boulders don't respawn, but there are a ton of them in natural caves (thanks jorbtar ^^) not likely to run out anytime soon.

don't worry, if stuff runs out they will either increase the map size or start a new world, more likely the first.

By respawn, you mean "increase in size" or spawn entirely new boulders?

i heard about that and tried to reproduce, but i never found any where i didn't leave them, saw more spawn around existing ones, or saw size regenerate in 2 months. it must be very slow or i did something wrong.
