How should I build my blacksmith.

Postby Ramki » Mon Feb 22, 2016 2:35 am

I don't know how or what a Blacksmith needs to focus on skill and stat building.

Can I get a basic rundown on how to build a Blacksmith?

Push STR and Smithing. A smith can double for a jeweler, too, if you push PSY up.

Thank you. Thats useful info. There really should be a role guide somewhere on the wiki or even on a starters Guide.

Just a guide that tells you all the roles a Hearthling can play and what stats are good for said role.

But there are no "roles". There are only stats. Go look up which stats affect what and then you know exactly what to raise in order to get to where you want to be. The game now even tells you which stats affect the quality of the items you craft so you don't even need to visit a third party site for it, it's built into the game.

When your first starting out you don't know what items take what in skills. I like to be effective off the bat and what I eat to boost my skills the right way the 1st time.

I suggest to use same char for mining and as "blacksmith" because both of them need lot of str. And are relatively safe. (As long as you mine with supports, avoid boulders and they dont add OP trolls)

I always make 3 toons :
- survival and explo : foraging, gathering high Q stuff ( clay, water, soil, ... ); thats the first toon
- strengh : mining, blacksmith, hunter, fighter
- dext and farming : the crafter, farmer : last toon, never leave the claim.
I spawn all 3 in the begining, and feed with LP, but I dont alocate the LP of the farmer until I have a palissade, so if one of my 2 other toons die early the "farmer" take his place.
When I have a palissade and begin to farm and have crafted curio, I make another toon to replace if one is dying.

I think it'd be more accurate to say that a new player doesn't really see what the potential skill and attributes are needed for a craft/build set, but once most crafts in the set are unlocked, it's not hard to figure out. It would definitely be easier if there were a new player guide describing such things.

You understand what I was talking about. This game has a sharp learning carve to new people. With out the help of some info you can get lost.

Good news is... "It doesn't matter." I say that because you can develop all skills and attributes up however you want. For a first time player, that's not really a bad thing. The hard part is going to be figuring out what you can't do because you haven't found item X.
