Scents in fresh claims without warning?

Is it possible for a scent to be left if you steal from a claim that hasn't gained presence yet, without using "tresspass" or turning on criminal acts; without warning the player first?
I wish to join a SMALL community or a newish player.

My fave tasks are Hunting, Fishing, Mining, Building, Crafting

I like free stuff so please keep it in the claim or I might claim it myself. Fair warning anybody could do it :P

No scents should be left on a claim without presence.

If you could take things without turning on criminal acts, then there should be no scents; you could always check by turning on tracking though.

Then I have a bug to report.

It didn't work that way.
