What is the best way making Alts?

Sorry for my bad english, but I was wondering how the peepz here make alts?

Is it like 1 Fighter/Miner/Forager with Strength, Agi, Con, Per & Combat, Survival, Mining, Exploration?
And the other as a "only at the base" character purely for cooking/crafting/farming?

Could someone tell be how to distribute the points and give me some tips?

don't know about the best way.:p

generally: hunter/forager, miner/combat, crafter/farmer. you can divide those up again into more specific roles, but not really necessary.

You make an alt for a role or reason. You want to try farming, but your main butchers bears. Make an alt to farm.
