How do I find string in the early game?

I have been looking at ways, such as tanning some leather and using straps, but I would like to know if there is another way to find string. I recall in legacy haven that you could pick the spindly taproot.

taproots and nettles are still found in large quantities in forests. I don't know the minimum perception/exploration to see them, but it isn't much.

2 or 3 explo and you start seeing them I think. With your early discoveries just put points in it then you're good to go.

According to the wiki you should be able to find taproot at 10per*explo, so you don't even have to spend LP to find some. Remember however that higher perception*exploration = you'll see more of them

With exp on 3 you can see them allready.

Easiest and most universal way to check if terrain is forest is to stand on it with full stamina and see if you can't use the 4th speed. (Swamp is an exception)

Taproots only spawn in forest biomes.
