Pearls

I spent 2 hours just now going around and boiling mussels, no luck whatsoever. Am I doing something wrong or what the fuck? Are they fated again or am I just getting bad luck?

I haven't found one yet after boiling quite a few cupboards of them. A fellow villager had a necklace less than a week into the world... I don't get it.

at the beginning of the world they were abundant. same as flotsams and glimmermoss. now they are all rare.

Since noone except two know, and they don't tell, the vorlon style answer seems appropriate.
