Combat and moves

I got a couple combat moves killing ants, but lately i've exterminated many of them and got not a single move, even if i didn't raised Unarmed (left intentionally low). Got a single chop move with axe, btw.
Do i need to move to bats for getting more moves? i hoped to get some more still fighting ants.

I don't know exactly how it work, but by cheesing the system, I've found that if you aren't getting new combat moves at least once in three fights, you are in a slump that will last for up to 30 fights before you start hitting discoveries again.
If you don't get a combat discovery after executing 5 moves, you won't be getting any discoveries in that fight.

Okay, i think i've done at least 50 fights...maybe more from the last move i got... weird :p

how you get combat moves is you need the pre-requisites for them.... so for example you usually can jsut get haymaker. to get chop you need ip points cause it requires them. to get parry or cleave you need to have a sword etc. its not jsut the equiptment there are other factors too.

i know, i had a lot of battles in wich i tried many combos of defenses/attacks and i've tried to get initiative before or after...that's why it's weird that i took only one chop move. There's a limit to the total of moves we can have? actually i've 25 of 'em.

what moves do you have? cause after you get kick,chop,haymaker,shield up, and take aim its probably time to move on from ants.

Wrong. I've gotten moves at least 15 moves after having sufficient ip, multiple times.

Right now i have:
1 chop
2 haymaker
2 kick
3 take aim
2 watch its moves

What i find interesting is the single chop i have. I don't have shield up 'cause i did not made a shield up now. It's worth to have it?

The current combat meta is pure mc: shield up, parry (bat), sting (badger, boar), take aim. You can add in a cleave (bear, lynx, moose), zigzag (boar) or something else as you wish to make a 5 card deck*.

So yes, shield up is basically essential if you are making a pvp character, until ua is made non-useless. It's also the last discovery you get from ants, no point trying to farm discoveries after that.

*the list of animals for each move is not exhaustive.
