Hunting question

Postby RaspberryCommie » Mon Mar 14, 2016 1:03 pm

What level MM do I need to not miss every single shot?

All the guides say that 10 mm is plenty for low level stuff like foxes and bats, but I miss every single shot with 15.

Using a q10 bow and ~q20 arrows just like the guide says but I can't hit anything.

dont get too much distance between you and the target or chance to miss is higher because of the spread

let the bar go into the green for more hit chance and then just pray it hits

I was standing literally right under a sleeping bat in my mine earlier and filled the aim bar until it stopped and I missed twice in a row before it kicked the crap out of me because I was otherwise unarmed.

This happens to me with literally every bat and 70% of the foxes I see.

I still think you can't hit dorment bats with arrows.
For foxes and other animals, try aiming at their FEET, and then shooting when the aim bar stops moving! The best way you can achieve this:

for foxes and deers, keep following them. When they stop, you aim to shoot. If they move, CANCEL aiming and follow until it stops again! And yes, this might take a while! Also, with 10 - 15 MM you'll need to be REALLY close to the target!

For everything (including foxes and deers), get on a boat, start roaming untill you find an animal close to the water. Aggro it so it rages on you, and GO AWAY from the shore water. Don't get TO close or they'll be able to hit you. Since they'r aggroed, they'll keep bouncing on the shore water trying to catch you stoped on a single spot, and you'll have plenty of time to aim and shoot. Remember: aim at the animal FEET, or just a lil under it, and shot that same position!

And about the bat kicking your ass. If you have low agi and low UA, also no defenses UP by the time it aggroed you, well, you could be using high Q bronze armor and a b20, it would still kick your ass ;)

With 25 agi, 25 UA you can naked fight bats barehands.

I know for a fact you can hit dormant bats because I did finally get one a little while ago.

As for the fox and deer thing, that's how I hunt normally actually. But when I miss they always charge me and kick the crap out of me. I got like eight different instances of whatever that wound that takes poultices is called just from that one fox, so now I get to forage for nettles for a few hours.

If you use amber you can see that the bounding box for bats is tiny... so it's very hard to hit them with an arrow. 10 mm is plenty for foxes if you stand on them and they don't move for a bit, or you can aggro across a river/large cliff.

I do use amber, but I didn't know it could show bounding boxes.

If I turn that on and aim for those instead of just the animal's sprite would that make me more accurate?

Why do you want to shoot bats anyway?

Way better is to get some UA and AGI then aggro them from max range, put up defenses and punch them one-by-one, because in case you miss or fail to one-shot them you won't have defenses up and they'll be upon you quickly...

I'm new to hunting and my MM is much higher than my UA.

But if it's better to Melee, then I can work on that.

Yeah it's better to melee bats because of the tiny hitbox and they're weaker than foxes. If you want practice, try to fight one near a cave door and if the fight starts going badly just run outside.

Sorry, I've just edited my previous post to make it clear I wasn't advocating shooting bats.
