How do I Mosaic?

Postby hulkster79 » Mon Mar 14, 2016 8:58 pm

Hi Folks!

Anyone savy with a way to take ordinary patterns or pictures and convert them into mosaic that could be used ingame? Or links to any references would help as well. I'm currently searching around.

Thanks!

In case you want something to help you layout paving patterns:

Just take and off the shelve image manipulation program and resize the picture to the intended resolution (in paved tiles), then limit the amount of colors (gif export with fixed palette works), reopen and scale up times 10 (or so) without any interpolation: there you have your blueprint.

I like using spreadsheet such as excel or Google sheet, set height and width of all cells to be small squares, fill all with 1s, and set the summary function at the bottom as sum, draw what you want, and then you can select a row or column and get the sum of tiles to know what size to pave
