Producing Mirkwood

Postby majorevers » Fri Apr 01, 2016 8:13 pm

With time, my plot mate and I are going to run out of easily accessible Mirkwood logs and stumps. That said, we're working on growing our own. The closest we've found by appearance to Mirkwood has been Alder. However, on chopping a couple of blocks, they don't work in the recipe. Does anyone know what trees turn into Mirkwood - and if it's a case of having to wait for it to 'Decay' into Mirkwood, do you just chop the logs and drop 'em, or what?

You can't :D

More seriously they should spawn more or less randomly depending on biome

Mirkwood is a perishable good, ergo, available in limited supply.

They are seem to appear often in the swamps. I can recommend that your forage man find them in his trips. They can hold 8 items and two can fit in the boats. This is a win win for the forage man.

Mirkwood isnt even a real tree or wood. Is a reference of the Lord of the Rings.

Also massproducing a located resource like mirkwood for an already op curio is a bit counterproductive.
If i need to walk throw the mountains to get edelweis, travel caves infested with bats to get glimermoss or boat the rivers with the danger of raiders, why shouldnt I place an outspost near swamps to produce mirkwood oferings?

Locations wouldnt have any sense to choose the foundation area for a village with your idea.

Thanks Yhxz

Ah, see all the above is what I've been thinking, but a friend of mine has claimed that there was a post where Jorb said that there are seeds, that way Mirkwood doesn't eventually go extinct. But in that post, this friend of mine said Jorb left the mystery of what tree produces said seed a secret. Figured I'd poke around and see if anyone else had more information on it.
