The art of war (for dummies)

Postby Kruzminator » Mon Apr 04, 2016 3:36 pm

hey,

I got a couple of questions about the siege system.

1. Do I alway need bring the shield down or I can just ram the palisade?

2. If so, do I always have to use the catapult or is there any other way? (I cant seem to get my hands on brimstone)

3. can we put rams in rafts to cross a river?

4.does holding a sledge hammer while ramming down a wall help?

5.does the quality of the ram matter?

Thanks for your time

1: If a segment of the wall is not under claim, you can break that, otherwise no.

2: Catapults and rams both take down the shield.

3: Pretty sure no, but walls can't be built close to water so you should be able to build a ram outside the wall.

4: No, it's sqrt strength + 20 - soak for damage done.

5: No.

Most major raids are made by other ways though.
Like bug abusing.

@Shadow7168

about question 3 If no one clearly confirms it, I will try/waste a ram to make sure if this is possible or not.
If not it could be a way of reducing waiting times in "danger areas" as I would only have to wait for repairing times after moving the ram.

@shubla

I know. but I have never tried the siege system and in order to improve it we have to try it out and esperience the advantages and drawbacks.

Besides it should be fun to try this thing out as J&L envisioned it.

legit raids dont happen anymore unless you want to camp a ram for like 12 hours XD

4 is definitely no. The ram is the only tool you get to use. A sledgehammer is only useful if the wall hasn't dried any and you aren't using a ram to break it. Otherwise, the soak is too high to be broken by hand (unless someone has come up with a way to get about 400 more STR from items and buffs).

How about question number 3?

has anyone tried to put a ram on a raft? Devs? are you going to make me waste a ram to try this out? =)

@ spawningmink

I know, but before I complain I have to try it out. Perhaps if you time it right you can raid small towns of 2/3 players.

Previously, no you could not put a ram on a raft. I don't know anyone has tried yet, and if they have, they're not saying yes or no yet publicly.

Rams can currently be put on rafts, yes.

Does moving the raft count against health of the ram (like moving the ram itself would) ?
If not: please add that and we would be good (or at least better, so someone will at least have to wait 12h before he's able to start ramming).
