How to build a barter stand safely?

Postby Enjoyment » Mon Apr 11, 2016 6:34 pm

So, as the topic says, with some nuances - I want to build a little trading area near my base. And I want that area to be paved like some sort of picture, so - how it should be build, to avoid people from terraforming but allow trading? should I claim it? if so - what permissions do i have to set - should it be walled to get visitor's bebuff?

It should be entirely claimed, with only trespass access to visitors. (Village claim seems preferable for this; pclaim can be weird about trespass access.) The entire thing needs to be surrounded by at least a palisade (with no gaps) and have no caves or mine holes on the inside. For better security, players should have no direct line of sight from the gate to the trading area, as it's possible to aggro through the gate (but a wall between the gate and trading area would block aggro). Ideally, you'd also want more than one gate you need to pass through to access the trading area, to be safe from non-repeatable visitor system exploits.

my personal preference is a 30x30 pclaim area with large or wooden chests filled with hand of giver and hand of taker and then a few barter stands in lines.
no walls, no fences, no bullshit. dont forget to build runestones at the entrance to welcome visitors. write something like "free stuff" and u get lots of visitors everyday that take your stuff.

Claimed palisade is the only thing that will make sure that noone will vandalize your picture.
