Clogs? What is?

I've been wearing these clogs for about 3 weeks now and I'm thinking it's time for an upgrade. I can easily create a pair of bunny slippers or high quality leather boots, so materials are not a problem. My question is: What are the benefits of wearing clogs? The wiki is outdated so I don't know. I'm afraid I'll switch to bunny slippers because I don't know the bonus that clogs give.

Clogs used to be a protection for new players. If you weren't wearing shoes you got the "thorn in the foot" debuff (or something like that) and it actually hurt you. I think clogs are merely cosmetics now.

I'm sick of the useless items. It would be so easy to give them bonuses but the developer choose not to. I get that they are busy but I mean why add the items in the first place? They should add the thorn in the foot bonus back. Or maybe make it have a small armor boost. Very odd.
