Basic Materials Quality Grinding.

WARNING!!! A lot of text ahead!

Hello, fellows. I’m currently at some point of understanding H&H basics, where I should look for some clarifications on some moments. I’m new to Haven (started to play straight Haven 2, w/o any Good Old Haven experience). In W8 I was more about discovering how things works, and wasn't truly involved in q-grind, and it was fine to me. But with start of W9, I feel myself a little more developed so I understood the necessity of finding hi-q materials for all the things, and have a try in it. And I wanna share u my story about it and ask for some advices for future search.

The Hermit Story (recomended, but not critical, for better understanding)
The world 9 was like 15 hours old when I finished my job and was able to do a clear start. Unluckily, it was 22:00 in my time-zone, so my hermit wasn't able to do a proper research for good starter base location, before Morpheus took control over my mind. I just found some neat place between two rivers, built a lean-to and passed out. Luckily, I had 2 my days-off in next two days, so I raised my Surv up to 30 and get some info about my place. It had q25 acre-clay spot, q25 ball-clay in a river with q20 water and q30 (obviously capped) soil on the other bank of that river. I was feeling very lucky, when I figured out that, and even more when I raised my Surv to 50 and did some prospecting and exploration of "close borders". In 1-3 minute on-boat, I have q45 clay, q42 soil, q45 stone quarry, q35 water and some q50 sand in like min 10. Plus, nearly whole my base was standing on iron ochre deposit. It was a truly luck, considering I wasn't even thought of choosing this location for base (it was like 03:40, and I was like "f*ck that! I will lay my head just here!"). It was the quality way above my skills.

The days have passed, and now most of my crafting is capped by raw materials, rather than my crafting abilities. So I decided to explore my "not so close borders", than some "not even close borders", and finished in "far-far away lands". I made a couple of trips to Sevilian Community Market (it's like 40 mins on boat in one direction), choosing different route each time, visited Dani on his Retreat twice (like an hour in one direction) and walked for 4-5 hours with my Explorer in other directions. And guess what? Not even a single strike! I wasn't able to find any res node better than those near my base. Not even better in one single quality. So that's where my despair come, and that's why I’m begging for your kind help.

These are my questions:
1. Was It a truly luck for me to find a place with q25 res on it? Or it just seems so to me due to my lack of experience? What is an average q of raw res, more experienced players prefer to build their first base on?
2. What q of raw mat counts as 'good'? 50? 75? 100? or above? What highest q of raw mat did you ever saw (in this world)?
3. How long does your regular resource gathering trip takes? What counts as 'acceptably'?
4. What is the best way of res transportation? I’m currently using boat with 2 barrels/wheelbarrows, but maybe there is some other tricks?
And finally, as a result:
5. Is there some way to grind the quality of tree beyond q of soil, water and clay?

Any clarifications on this, would be more then thankful, but preferably, I want to know about the experience of fairly playing single (or a small grouped) hermit, so don't spam with "Meah, man, just use bots for this!")
Thx for your attention.

P.S. I will definitely give a try to all reasonable suggestions to check them and report of my successes in future, and this thread may result in some kind of 'Q-grinding Guide' for someday.

First off, the main resources you should pay attention to are soil, water, and clay. Need those to get good metal and trees.

1. Q25 is pretty average out of the whole world I'd say, nothing special.
2. Q40+ clay/water and Q50+ soil is pretty good for smallish village/industrious hermit, Q65+ clay/water and Q70+ soil is pretty good for bigger villages.
3. If there's a road directly to it, can take like 10 minutes.
4. Roads are nice. You can ride a horse to carry a boat at normal speed.
5. Raise your fibre quality (hemp or flax) to increase your herb table quality, spiral tree quality increases from the randomness factor.

Thx for a quick reply...
Now I need some clarifications on your info)
1. Did u read the hidden part? I meant my spot had all of the res q25+ in one single spot (like 15 seconds walking speed) - is this still regular?
2. So there is no some q300 clay or q450 water spot at all? What highest q ever been discovered?
3-4. Emm, Im little confused about that part - if I have a road betwwen my base and my node - why do I need horse, and why trip isn't constant through 'travelling'? Am i missing something?
5. Thx for that suggestion, is it the only way? Is there any limits or secrets? I've noticed my flax crops raised their q to 40-45 with my 50 Farmer, but seems they stuck at that q, despite my farmer had 100 in farming and all farming-related skills (with DR included)...

I lucked into placing my camp right next to some pretty good water (35/55/35). We have a reasonably close spot with q30 soil, and a slightly further away (10 min boat trip) spot that's 48/40/31. We have clay (42/47/53) a similar distance away. There's also an okay spot for sand (38/25/27) near the clay.

To increase your crop quality, you need to do test plantings. Plant one and inspect it to check the quality. If it isn't higher than your seeds, wait a few hours and try again.
