It only got a kill because you made it an 11th-level wizard.

I'd be totally down for some other kind of ranged effect, maybe the mammoth could trumpet (as pachyderms generally do) and instill a heavy debuff to all attackers in hearing range, dealing a minor amount of damage that bypasses armor (associated wound could be Bleeding From the Ears), but the current deal is more than a little bullshitty. Heavy ranged spam is just not cool.

I've sat there tanking ranged shots for several minutes and its never even gotten past my deflect. What the hell are you using? its doing barely 100 damage, maybe even less.
