If you put in a few hours on your first day and work on getting your Intelligence up a few points, you can get enough curios you should have the LP the next day when you log in. If you no life your first day in a game like a lot of people around here, you'll have it in about 4-8 hours of playing. It takes patience and willpower to not compulsively spend on one or two more points in a stat.

I had to raise all my stats to the point where I could no longer take any skills before I got my claim because I'm too impulsive. Woops.

Once you start more than a couple of characters, you get to learn how to grind through the early game quickly so you can get a claim down. You also learn that you probably shouldn't bother with this unless you are really sure you want to settle at this place, especially with the change to the way claims work over legacy haven.
