Hedgehogs rarity

So I tried to find any hedgehogs since update without any luck.
I've made 5 long trips (thick lines, one is like half-world long) and was wandering around in crosshatched area for 5 hours.

Saw 3 lynx(es?), 6 bears, 7 mooses, 9 horses, 11 mouflons, 13 badgers, 17 deers, 20 auroches, 21 squirrels, 35 foxes, 36 boars and 43 rabbits. Hedgehogs - zero.
So, how rare they are? And if they aren't, what am I doing wrong?

I agree, I was actually going to ask in the update thread for the spawn rate to be increased ... I spent most of the day yesterday looking for them with no sightings at all and another friend also spent a good while, travelling far from his home, also without any joy.

Well the patch notes said it only spawns in 4 types of Forrest biome. So maybe just the wrong terrain and/or unlucky.

I caught 5 so far,didn't play that much or travel a lot. Also saw a few I didn't collect. They are somewhat rare, but imo not overly so.

Personally I did know which terrains they spawn in so, was looking in the right places ... guess just extremely unlucky then.

Yeap, that's what I mean) I saw no info about specific biomes on forum, so I assume those "ppl" talked to u personally... Are u a Gossip-girl? )

I have friends ...

And there was a reason I left it for someone else to answer, tho perhaps I should have explained, but I'm actually at work and a bit distracted, lol. I don't know the names of the specific biomes and I'm not sure my descriptions would be particularly helpful, I figured Twist (or someone else) would probably reply with more information.
