[Newbie Questions] Cloth's and gilding

Postby hery76 » Mon May 30, 2016 7:41 pm

Hello once again guys, this time i'm questioning myself about clothes and something that other player said in my previous post, cloth and gilding.

For what i've been looking and quoting the wiki: "Rather than having intrinsic stat bonuses," does this means that cloth's now just differ in aesthetics? and if i want bonus on them i have go gild items (http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Equipment_Gilding)?

But i'm a bit confusing if some cloth's are better because of armor and stuff and cant find a very sucint thread about that :/

Thanks for the time.

Yes and no. Clothes do have difference between them. I think to do some example is easiest.

Two hats, Laddie's Cap and Fox Hat:

You see Laddie's Cap has 10-30% with Sewing affinity. Fox hat has 10-25% for Agility affinity.
Now some example gilding, Quilted Wadding:

This wadding is 20-100% with Charisma and Sewing affinity.

Gildable cloth means you can put a gilding in this one. Then based on affinity of cloth and affinity of gild item, you have chance to make this one gildable again (to put some second gild in this one).
The percent chance for success is based on matching gilds and your skill in them. So Fox Hat and Wadding have no matched affinity. This means chances for gild will always be minimum. So 10% chance * 20% chance = 2% chance.
We can see this one is true here:

But Laddie's Cap and wadding have single matched affinity. So this means the chance for gild is not minimum, instead somewhere in range of 10%*20% = 2% and 30%*100% = 30%. Where between this 2-30% range is based on the sewing skill. More skill = closer to this 30% chance for getting. At my current stat (200), I have 23% chance:

So to summary: you can gild any single item in any item, but if you want to put multiple gild items into single item, you will want to match this affinity and have high skills for best chance for getting.

So if i understood correctly, this is all about seeing which cloth's and gild items have better "matchmaking" and follow a route that suits my char right?

seems pretty straight forward now with that example, i didnt notice that small icon in front if "chance" in cloths before :P

Thank you so much Ysh, once again eheheh :D

P.S: just to be certain, armour is still a thing ? like bear cape http://havenandhearth.wikia.com/wiki/Bear_Cape ?

There are some gildable items with armor, foir example, Bat Wing cape, Badger Vest, Ranger Boots. Not sure about that Vapntreuy (or something). You can get pretty nice gilding on Ranger's Boots, other items - not so much. Heavily armored items (metal armor etc.) are not gildable.

Sounds to me like you get this one. No problem.

There are some exception to this gilding right now. Bear cape and lynx cape can be gilded, but they also give some stat (but not as much stat as before, see here).
Also, armor is unchanged from before gilding. They still give stat as before and AC. Rings and accessories are also same as before with giving stats.
