Cant find a spot for a well.

Got a dousing rod equipped and its telling me where to go and all. I take two steps and it goes random again. I follow new path. two-five steps in it changes back to where I came. I go back to the spot thinking okay I must be on it. Nope big pie slice in a new direction again. Follow it for a few minutes and it changes again. I never found a spot to build like in old H&H unless they no longer give you that phantom looking spot when you're near it.

You can build wells anywhere outdoors now. But you may need to plow&stomp or pave the area first
But the "deeper" the water runs, the more rope and stone you'll need

The dowsing rod is just for pointing you towards higher water levels

Be advised that liquid depth won't be changed by digging down

To be able to place the well you also need to level a minimum of two adjacent tiles, one for the well and one for the tile with the handle.

So what exactly am I looking for? I have found spots that say its not any higher etc. Also Im going out on a limb and guessing I need to build the well and then I can check water Q right? No way beforehand?
