Kilns Un-simplicity

Ok, so I'm coming back to Hearth from Legacy and I knew everything about the game back then, but yet another problem has arisen in this new version. I've finally got a steady place and a good location at that, so when I made my first 2 kilns, I thought it was all smooth sailing, but when I put my 2 ticks in for a batch of clay to bricks theres no option in the menu with whats in the kiln to "light" like in legacy. Whats up with that? Am I doing something wrong? Why can't the Devs just keep something as simple as a button to manually light your stuff? Well, can someone tell me how to light it? I now theres something probably simple to it that they replaced instead of it though...

Make a firebrand and use it on the kiln.

Better yet: make a tar kiln as well, get some tar and make a torch. Light a fire in your fireplace, light the torch from the fire and use the torch to light other things

Of course its a firebrand I feel stupid for not thinking of that, but I appreciate the help!

Tar kiln making tar, but making coal is primary function.
