Stop items from decaying?

Maybe this has been addressed elsewhere, but why do items decay so fast now? Palisades, crates, fences, etc (all on paved ground) are decaying about 40x faster than legacy Haven. How do you maintain your stuff? I feel like everyday I am making repairs to my palisade that was just built last week. :|

Paved or not, objects decay if they are not on a claim (personal or village) or if they are not inside a cave/house.
