Can't find leeches?

Postby dragongirl253 » Tue Jun 21, 2016 10:56 pm

I thought I had found a marsh, but I can't get any leeches from it. What do marshes even look like?
tbh i could play this game for years and still be a noob

The areas outlined with red are marshes.

While traveling through a marsh, your character will move at walk/crawl speed only.

To find leeches, you basically do what you'd do IRL: you drop your clothes and go commando wandering the marsh. Just standing there bare-ass will work too. Every free slot on your character doll will sooner or later be occupied with a leech. If you don't want to lose soft hitpoints at the marsh, you can gather a leech into your inventory and reapply it later, when you're safely inside your base. After 3 ticks of SHP drain Leech will become bloated and after a while in a container bloated Leech becomes hungry again. Each SHP tick raises Leech's potency by 1, softcapped by your CON.

For later use, to determine the biome you're looking at, hold CTRL+SHIFT and mouseover a tile (avaliable in Amber or similar custom clients). If you don't see a tooltip for the biome, press SHIFT+i once to turn tooltips on.

You'll also know because there are likely to be a lot of dragonflies. These only spawn in swamps. Give it time. It can take several minutes to even get one leech.

This was changed with the tri-quality system. Essence is affected by the Constitution. Substance is affected by Dexterity. Vitality is affected by Agility.

Like in legacy, leeches move 1 point towards attribute of Hearthling they take a bite out of. For example, if you have more Constitution than leech has Essence, Essence will increase. If you have less Constitution, Essence will decrease.

I added this information to wiki 3 months ago but only to the talk page of "Leech" article. Since it didn't (and still doesn't) have new article for Hafen I was too lazy to make one myself and eventually forgot about it.

Thanks for posting that to the wiki, vatas. I don't watch it for talk updates like that so miss them. I have things to do shortly, but I'll try to get it fixed later today if it doesn't get done before I get to it.

Thanks for the answers!
I had in fact not found a marsh, so that's why I wasn't getting any leeches. But, I did a little more exploring and found an actual marsh and now I have plenty of leeches.
