There's way to teach items into other players. Someone who has discovered mussel can grab it on their cursor and right click you for "teach" option.

Teaching someone river pearl mussel will give them access to the recipes that contain it (if all other ingredients are already discovered i believe), but to actually find the mussel in rivers, you must to have a minimum of half of the base per*exp value which i think is 760. someone please correct me if i'm wrong

The teach option was new to me, I just found out the barterstand discoveries didn't work anymore...

you can also make parchment and then click object to parchment and it will type that knowledge there so you can learn it by reading. only works for some tuff tho.
