How to get strange root?

I have this cruel incision and no way to craft gauze and nobody to help me. So I figured I could get a strange root and craft Rootfill, but how do I get them?

You have a very small chance to get Strange Root when uprooting a stump. If you're determined to get one, equip a shovel and go boating, find a settlement or a village - there will be a lot of stumps around it usually, get to uprooting.

Or just gather some wool from wild mouflons and craft yourself a gauze.

Dosen't OP mean Ancient Root that you get from those ancient windthrows which heals all hhp? I have never heard of the strange root healing hp

There. Now you know. It's a nice medicine, by the way; however, strange roots are a pain to come by.

It was added as a way to get rid of one of those wounds that had no other way to be healed during w8. I'd have to look through patch notes to find it.

Matter of luck. Before I found out about Rootfill (even before I had the need to heal any serious wounds) I've dug up 2 Strange Roots. I even had to take one back from my alt's Study when I discovered that's a valuable reagent, not just a shitty curio.
