End of the map?

So, I've been out exploring the world, and I come to a halt at (5,-119) , (the star) ... Is this the end of the map? As you see, there's more beyond that point..what's the deal?
I can't boat past this point nor can I walk..

Yes, as you can see, the world is bounded at this point.

There is some terrain you cannot reach. I don't know whether there is a substantial amount of map generated beyond that, and we simply have our movement restricted.

Seems like loftar mentioned how much map was generated past the border at one point, but it's been so long, I don't recall specifics.

Its the world border.
Devs should implement some better indicator to it.
