How do I trap animals?

So I tried to kill this auroch with my bow. I trapped him with branch stockpiles until he stopped moving. Aimed at him. Shot.
Then he destroyed the stockpiles and rekted me.
Can anyone shed me a light?

I believe you can trap it with logs/boats

I think all the entrapments work best when you are trying to prevent the animal from fleeing, not actually attacking you. Also, you should be doing this from a boat, cornering the animal with logs/additional boats using your alt while your main keeps animal in place, aggroed from safe water. Hence logs/boats and not stockpiles: can't stockpile effectively close enough to water, not enough clearance/not flat enough ground.

You can use logs, however you HAVE to be sure that the animal cannot get through. Use shift+B on amber client to see the hitboxes on objects. You can use boats in the same way, which is especially useful on rivers and lakes as infectedking put with his 10/10 art piece.
