3 starting players need combat advice

Postby Rhakar » Thu Jun 30, 2016 12:33 pm

We've been going for about 2 weeks now, we've tried combat earlier, by having the same UA as we did in W7 and attacking some ants...
3 Days later the wounds were taken care of...

Now we've stocked up ~100k LP on 3 toons, (And 20-30ish str/agi/con) and we were wondering what the best way to proceed is.

The highest QL Leather we have is ~15ish.
We have no hard metal atm, but a mine, so let's say ql 10ish metal?
Boughs ql10, string ql~25 bone ql20...

We can now either get one skill to 40ish, or one to 35ish and a second to 25ish.
Should we all 3 go the same skill? All 3 ua/melee? 1-2 ua/melee, 1-2 MMs? 3 MMs?
Should we go UA, or skip it and go straight to MC?
How much better is MC assuming ql10-15ish weapons than UA? Is it even better at all? What QL does it become better?

Oh, all of this is only for PvE, so killing animals and taming.

Thanks for any and all replies :)

Don't bother to go too deep into that guide. You should know that in a day or two the combat system will have major changes. You can test it right now, but you'll have to either spar or level a little bit since you'll start without your existing characters on test server. Or you can go PvP at test Valhalla with pre-generated character.

Oh, I wasn't aware of that, thanks for the heads-up.

What does this mean for the fate of W9?

*shrugs* judging by the test server, in general that means longer and more fussy combats, where you do a lot of moves and move sequences to achieve minor change. I mean, heck, you have to punch, jump a few times and punch again just to kill a squirrel! But, yeah, seeing as devs didn't put the new system live when they were going to, they're probably (hopefully) rethinking some PvE balance atm.

On a global scale, it doesn't mean incoming world reset (if that's what you imply), since jorb is being very articulate about not wanting to do that without a "developing reason" and implementing major yet not game-breaking changes doesn't constitute one.

That's what I was implying. And great, I'm glad to hear W9 will stay for a while, thanks!

I'm hoping PvE combat won't be overly complex and time consuming...

Thanks a lot :)
