(Noob Question) Axe Material vs Quality

So in my travels I came across a few open bases and obviously helped myself to the spoils. In that I have found some axes way out side my own abilities. The question I have is I have a Q29 stone axe and a Q11 Metal axe. Would I be better off continuing to the use higher Q stone axe or get the stamina benefits and increase quantity from the metal axe?

Use higher quality stone axe for thing which tool quality is matters (basically every thing). Use metal axe to chop trees down only.
